Loving and Hating

December 28, 2007 Sam Leave a comment

Snow.

It’s weird when you can love and hate things at the same time. Here’s what I mean.

I love snow. As long as I’m not having to commute in it.
That’s when I hate snow.

Everyday I wake up and occasionally it’s snowed the night before. The first thought I have everytime I see snow: Niiice!
The thought I have right after that (if I have to go to work)- FUCK!!

Like seriously, it’s probably unhealthy having such and influx of emotions in a matter of seconds.

Oh well…

IDP:It’s coming.

When things go from wishful thinking and dreams to reality, it’s quite possibly the greatest high one can achieve. I’ve collected the tools, and within a few weeks I should have all the legal things out of the way.

I’ve already written a couple of marching maneuvers that haven’t been seen in this valley, at least by me anyway… and I’ve seen a lot. Im excited for things to come.

Let it snow, Let it snow, Oh No.

December 23, 2007 Sam 1 comment

So driving home from work tonight may very well have been one of the most frightening events of my life. That mini-blizzard… snow EVERYWHERE. The icy-interstate-of-doom littered with car wrecks and emergency vehicles.
Watching the snow drifts cross the road, not knowing if the road was iced over and best of all- no snow tires. I think I may have broken 40 mph maybe twice all the way home.. and 35 maybe five times.

I’ll tell you what- I’ve never been so happy to find powdered snow on the deserted Aviation road. After all the drifting and sliding I did on the interstate and on Midland and Ustick roads- that untouched road was like a god-send. I made it home and I promised my mom and myself that if the roads were anywhere near as bad on the 25th as they were tonight- I won’t go into work. (especially since it’d only be for two hours) I don’t care what my boss will say- my life and safety is worth more than $25.

Im just glad I made it home.

T-minus 5 days and counting

December 20, 2007 Sam Leave a comment

Okay, I want to put it out there that I am NOT racist… but I couldn’t help but laugh to myself when I had a black man walk up to me today with a bag of KFC! Thats just the way it is and its funny! so anyways…

That has definitely been one of the the highlight of my day… everything else has been shitty. The silver lining is though- I do now own a pair of 160 dollar black work pants and I have my new License. Everything leading up to both those events sucked ass, between rude security people and pompus salesmen, and not to mention the traffic around the mall on Cole, Franklin, and Milwaukee.

I guess there is one more thing that made my night… that smile of hers and that foreign kinda-out-of-tune christmas singing. She’s definitely something special that one.

Finals are over, and Im back to the 2C tomorrow! and in a few days I’ll definitely want to be back in good ol’ 1A Im sure.

a moment lost in time

December 16, 2007 Sam 2 comments

Two years ago tonight I had my heart pulled out and shredded for the first time in my life.
I’ve always been a little bitter that it happened the day after my birthday- talk about shitty timing
And

looking back at this whole situation,
I remember feeling like I’d gotten the worst end of this deal.
but now- knowing all that I know about that time
and everything that’s happened in between-

I know i got the better end of this deal.

The Evolution of the BTMellos

December 14, 2007 Sam 2 comments

I’m not afraid to say it- Im proud to have been apart of the core group of freshman that have turned the Mellophone section around. Going from Six members in 2005 to Thirteen in 2007, its an impressive boom, especially when its revealed that only Three of that original Six are still around.

I’m so stoked! I get my letterman jacket tonight!! Woot Woot!
