Defining the path

I hate to sound self-centered when it comes to Marching Band drill design, but I thought I knew almost everything when it came to writing drill. Let’s call it confidence, not cockiness. Anyways- so far this season, I’ve learned so much more than I ever thought I would thanks to working virtually hand in hand with both Mrs. Garza (the color guard instructor), Sam Bowker (drumline instructor), as well as my dad.

It’s weird taking that step from theory to practice, but because I’ve taken this step- I’ll be thousands of times better next year and in the future.

Speaking of the future- I, well… I may leave BSU this spring to take a tri-mester at TVCC and get my associates in Business Management and then move to Moscow for a year to get a change of scenery as well as my Bachelors in Business Administration. I love Boise and will always be a Boise State fan (heaven forbid I become a Vandal fan) but I feel as though I’ve hit that proverbial wall in Boise.

Anyway, now that THAT’s out of the way- for the last two band competitions (Caldwell’s Showcase and the Ontario Battle of the Bands) I’ve been introduced over the PA system as “Sam Stone III, Impact Design” and that’s caused me to pause and think about my companies name.

Officially, I had decided on Impact Drill Design. It’s now been shortened to Impact Design. But I’m wondering if a name like “Impact by Design” would be a better name… or maybe it would be a better, all be it redundant, slogan for my company… who knows. (Comments about this would be appreciated)

I guess I could go on and on and on.. but I wont. (right now anyway).

Practical Joker Supreme

Another week, another week closer to November 15th…. and going to Moscow for the BSU-UI game.

Tonight I would have to classify as a great night- Caldwell’s show is coming together- slowly and surely. I have to admit that it’s always weird for me to watch something I’ve written being executed on the field. I’ve learned a lot for only writing half of the show.

Anyways, After the game- which caldwell lost- I went out for a drink at orphan annies with the pappins. Immediately after we sat down it was determined that we needed to call Nick and let him know what he was missing out on.

As we were calling Nick with his sister’s (who was sitting next to me) cell phone- their mom leaned over the table and said “you two should pretend like you’re dating”… I was a little surprised- but immediately fell into the roll. I wish I could have seen Nick’s face when I delivered the news. He was stunned- it was amazing!

I don’t know if it was more surprising that I was out drinking with his parents or if it was that I was supposedly “dating his sister”.

God, I just cant get over how much fun that was…. totally made my night.
